01 · THE SHORT VERSION
Quick verdict
Mahjong Ways 2 is the better comparison when you want to study how changing a familiar layout alters the reading task. Its taller central reels distinguish it from the original, and the published manual makes the configuration easier to research. We would not choose between the two solely on a 0.03 percentage-point RTP difference: that difference says little about a short session. The sequel also illustrates why a huge advertised maximum needs context. PG SOFT separately reports a much smaller maximum in its stated simulation, which we keep visible.
Readers already comfortable with the original’s transformations. This describes a preference for mechanics, not financial suitability.

How the slot works
The central three reels contain an additional row compared with the outer reels. Qualifying gold tiles become Wilds after winning cascades, with an increasing multiplier sequence.
The practical reading order is the total stake, the qualifying pattern, then any transformation or collection that follows. A displayed symbol value is only an award when the game’s conditions are met. Use the exact title’s paytable rather than importing the rules of a sequel.
Features & bonus rounds
The manual describes free spins and enhanced gold-symbol behaviour on the middle reel. Its rules should be read separately from the original Mahjong Ways edition.
Free spins and respins are game mechanics, not automatically an operator’s no-deposit promotion. Their triggers and payout rules belong to the game; account rewards have separate eligibility and wagering terms.
RTP & variants
The official source publishes 96.95%. This is a provider-stated value for the documented game, not a guarantee that an operator account uses the same build.
At 96.95% RTP, the theoretical house edge is 3.05%. On a hypothetical ₱10,000 of total stakes, the corresponding long-run expected loss is ₱305. That is an explanation of the model, not a forecast for a ₱10,000 session.
Volatility
Medium (PG SOFT). This is the supplier’s classification. It is not a measured variance from our own play and is not automatically comparable with another supplier’s scale.
RTP describes a theoretical average; volatility concerns the spread of outcomes. Neither tells you how many losing rounds might occur before a feature. Decide a loss limit independently of any advertised maximum.
Bet range & maximum win
Provider defaults: €0.20–€50. These are not confirmed PHP limits.
Maximum information: 100,000× advertised; 1,708× simulation maximum. The advertised value and the maximum observed in the provider’s stated billion-spin simulation are different measures. Neither is a result recorded by SlotVIP nor a promise that the advertised ceiling will occur.
For a Philippine account, read the actual ₱ total per round, including any additional mode cost. We do not convert a euro default into a claimed peso minimum: an operator can configure denominations differently.
Mobile experience
PG SOFT lists iOS, Android and HTML5 support in the manual, and its supplied screenshot shows a portrait interface. This is evidence of the intended platform and layout, not a timed test on a particular phone.
For this game, the most useful device check is whether gold tiles & taller central reels remains readable while the total stake and information controls stay visible. That is our proposed test criterion, not an observation from a completed session.

Pros & cons
What we like
- Official manual publishes RTP, controls and ways structure
- A clear side-by-side comparison with Mahjong Ways is possible
Limitations
- Larger middle reels add more symbols to track
- 100,000× is an advertised figure, not a typical or tested outcome
Editorial judgments from documentation, not invented player feedback.
SlotVIP verdict
Mahjong Ways offers 1,024 ways and a slightly lower stated RTP, with a less crowded grid.
Our preference is to compare the rule that matters to you, then check its evidence. A higher research rating means the documented fields are more complete under our rubric; it does not mean better odds than every lower-rated game, verified Philippine availability, or guaranteed enjoyment.

The complete manual earns full documentation points for mechanics, features and paytable. One published RTP earns 12/15; a current variant list would be required for 15/15. Full scoring rules →
