What changed in August 2025
On 14 August 2025 the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas issued Memorandum No. M-2025-029, directing all BSP-supervised institutions to remove links that give in-app access to gambling sites within 48 hours. The memo defines that access as any product or service that redirects an account holder to a gaming or gambling site. Maya complied, and its Games feature stopped offering gaming access from 8 pm on 16 August 2025.
Maya told users they could move remaining gaming balances back to their wallet through the in-app feature only before that cut-off, and that afterwards any remaining funds had to be handled through the gaming operator's own website or app. The BSP said the suspension stays in place until it finalises a policy on online gambling payment services. Any page, advert or chat message suggesting that Maya still opens or tops up a casino account from inside the app should be treated as out of date or misleading.
Maya, PayMaya and older promotional wording
The wallet was known as PayMaya before it rebranded as Maya, which is why older operator notices, including the BAY888 selected-payment promotion on our bonuses page, still use the name Pay Maya. That notice lists Pay Maya among the channels for a specific incentive and explicitly excludes GCash from it. It was retrieved on 22 September 2026 and describes the operator's terms, not a live test.
A promotional mention does not show that a Maya route is currently enabled for your account, what it costs, or whether the same channel works for withdrawals. Those details belong to the operator's live cashier and terms.
Security habits that apply to any wallet
Maya will not ask for your password or one-time PIN through a casino chat, a social post or an editorial site. Treat any such request as fraud. Open the app from your phone's home screen rather than from a link in a message, and turn on the security features the app offers.
