“Anywhere” is not a universal rule
Some games count Scatters in any visible position. Others require specific reels, a particular state or a minimum number within one spin. A symbol can look like a Scatter without following the rule you remember from another game.
Check whether the feature trigger is evaluated on the initial result or after cascades. If symbols drop into new positions, the point at which the game counts them can matter. Do not assume symbols seen across separate spins accumulate unless the rules explicitly say they do.
Separate the trigger from the prize
The paytable may show a direct Scatter award and a free-spins trigger on the same page. Read whether these are alternatives or simultaneous outcomes. Also check what the displayed multiplier applies to: a total stake and a line stake are different bases.
A feature trigger is not a guarantee of a particular return during the feature. The extra rounds can still produce a small prize or, under the rules of some games, no substantial return. Promotional videos usually show selected outcomes rather than the full distribution.
Retriggers and caps
Retrigger rules explain whether additional Scatters during a feature add more spins, restart a counter or have no effect. There can be a cap on the number of spins, a limit on repeated triggers or a special arrangement of reels during the feature.
Write those limits next to the initial trigger condition. An explanation that only says “unlimited free spins” without a documented rule can create a false impression of the product. We do not infer unlimited behaviour from the absence of a number in a short marketing description.
A quick evidence note you can keep
Record the exact game title and version, trigger count, permitted positions, direct payout rule, initial feature length, retrigger conditions and maximum limits. A screenshot of the relevant rules can help when asking the operator about a disputed round.
If the information is incomplete, the sensible conclusion is that the mechanic is not fully documented in the material available to you. It is not an invitation to invent the missing steps.
